Electronic Media Team

This Martin Luther Chapel team is committed to creatively and effectively communicating God's gracious love to the academic and residential community through the use of:

  • Multimedia presentations
  • Martin Luther Chapel website
  • Audio and video recordings
  • Online content

Welcome Area Reader Board

One of the goals of this team is to set up a reader board in the Chapel that displays current information on Chapel events. This goal has now been completed -- a reader board is up and running on the TV in the Welcome Area. The display comes directly from the Chapel website via a netbook computer connected to the MLC Wi-Fi system. You can check out the display at http://martinlutherchapel.org/...

FYI: Digital Piano Buyer's Guide

Martin Luther Chapel recently purchased a Roland RD-300GX digital piano for use in the Wednesday On Fire service. In terms of understanding the features and options of a digital piano, I found the attached article helpful. If you are already familiar with digital pianos, the article probably provides little new information for you.

Roland Digital Piano quote

Attached is a copy of the Marshall Music quote for the Roland RD300GX keyboard, keyboard bench, direct box, and keyboard stand. In addition to the quoted items, Jeff Rester said Marshall Music would throw in a couple of additional cables at no extra charge. The total price is a bit less than had been budgeted for this item.

Church Extension Fund grants $6000 for Sanctuary audio equipment purchase

I am delighted to inform the Team that the Grants Committee of the Michigan District Church Extension Fund has approved partial funding of Martin Luther Chapel’s $10,000 grant request. The Church Extension Fund approved $6000 to be used for sanctuary audio equipment, which includes three handheld microphones, one-24 channel sanctuary mixer, two speakers and stands, and additional microphones to swap between lavalier and handheld.

MLC Wi-Fi system

Thanks to the work of Dave Fassezke, the range of the Chapel's Wi-Fi network has now been extended to the entire building. The networks are:

  • MLC Wireless - range covers the welcome area and narthex,
  • MLC at MSU - range covers the lower level near the kitchen, and
  • MLC-Fireside - range covers the fireside lounge and student office area.

All three networks are encryption-free and are connected to a single AT&T DSL modem.

Projector screen paint

During last Sunday's meeting, we had a quick discussion about the possibility of using reflective paint on the sanctuary ceiling to improve video projections, but we wanted more information on the paint. Joel tracked down the following info for us:

One product is "Screen Goo" -- see the website at http://www.goosystems.com/

Another is "Digital Image Screen Paint", see http://www.screenpaintsupply.com

WednesdayONFIRE Domain Name

Thanks to the work of Louise and Joel, the Chapel now owns the domain name WednesdayONFIRE.org. Louise has asked Mustardseed Media to establish a link so that all visitors to the WednesdayONFIRE.org website are automatically forwarded to the Martin Luther Chapel website. The Chapel also purchased the WednesdayONFIRE.com and WednesdayONFIRE.net domain names. These two websites will remain dormant.
