St. Vincent Ministries

St. Vincent Ministries

Every week, students from Martin Luther Chapel go to St. Vincent to lead a youth group for the kids that live there. I cannot express how meaningful this time can be, and God really uses the kids to teach us as much as He uses our words and lessons to show His love to His children.

Because of the size of the groups, only a few college students can go, but anyone can help write Bible studies and pray for the ministry as well. Once the school year starts, we will need to start looking at what evening works best, and I will do my best to post the kids' prayer requests up here on a weekly basis (I won't be able to put names up because of confidentiality, but God knows so it works!). If you think to, please start praying that the staff at St. Vincent is enthusiastic about the Message we are bringing this fall!

Happy Halloween!

I was informed that this Thursday, October 29 the children will be trick or treating and therefore we will not be having a bible study for them this week.
Please keep all the children and staff members in your prayers and we will continue again next week, November 5.

Weeks 4 & 5

There has been a lot going on the past few weeks! As we continue to go to St. Vincent's the children that come have been a steady group, and there's always a couple new kids that trickle in. They love having their own Bible Passports and are starting to add their own comments on their pages also!

There are quite a few prayer requests from the past two weeks.

*Pray for the people who are still searching for God.
*"I want to pray about my Cira" (God knows what's in their heart)
*Please pray for a child's dad
*I ask with love, can you help me with my anger"

A new year

Hola everyone!

This year at St. Vincent's has started with a bang. It was hard to believe that we have already gone twice. There has been a good number of children coming to the bible study as well. For the second week we had a total of 10 children come.
The group currently going every week is Pauline Wendzel, Amanda McConomy, Melissa Bunge, and myself. As a group, the idea was passed to have "Bible Passports" so that the children can have a scrapbook of everytime that they come on Thursdays.

This week there were a few prayer requests from the kids:

The End =)

There weren't any prayer requests the last week, so we'll just go with...

Continue to uphold these kids and this ministry in your prayers over the summer. As the kids will most likely face transitions before we are back in the fall, pray that even if they are in a new, foreign places, they feel and know the presence of God in their lives. I also ask that you pray that God continues to lay these kids on the hearts of students at Martin Luther Chapel, that there may be continued interest to serve in this way!

St. Vincent Prayer

Please pray for one of the girl's dad.

Also, as we approach the end of the semester & year (next week will be the last week), please pray that God blesses the relationships that have formed that His love may shine through everything we've been doing this year.

God Bless!

St. Vincent Prayers

Here are the requests from last week:

1) To pray for my familys trubils [troubles]"
2) For prayer
3) Help throw [through] my unknow troble"

Thank you for your service and your heart for these kids!

God Bless.

This Week @ St. Vincent

Two prayer requests from last week:

"to pray for my family"
"please pray for my mom"

Numbers have been down a bit--please pray that God continues to bring kids and get them (and the staff) excited for Thursday nights!!

God Bless!

Week 8 @ St. Vincent

Other than one request to "dance to rap music," here are the prayer requests from this past Thursday:

*I hope you bless us.
*"I like it expitee rere"
*"I live in I love you"
*God, I hope you can help me with my anser problem"

I'm not sure what two of those are about, but I do know that God knows these kids hearts!

Thank you for serving these kids!

Week 7 @ St. Vincent

Thursday's Prayer Requests:

"Thank you Lord for everything in the name of Jesus Christ"
"I would like that if I can go home next Thursday."
"I pray that my mom is all right"
"God is here for us, Thank you God."

Thank you for praying alongside and for these kids. We have one more week before spring break (the topic is Salvation!) and then we'll pick back up right away after spring break.

To God be the glory!

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6"

Week 6 @ St. Vincent

One prayer request:

Joshua, a boy that has been a regular at youth group, was in the hospital last week. Unknowingly, you've actually been praying for him quite a bit already as he has written several prayer requests this year. Please just continue to hold up this child of God in prayer.

Also--this week's topic is the "helmet of salvation," which means there is an opportunity to really get to the heart of the Gospel. Please pray for the group writing and going this week--that they may allow God to plan, speak, and love through Him.

All this to God's Glory!

Week Five @ St. Vincent

Over 1/2 the requests this week read "musical chairs," but aside from that, there did seem to be one prayer request:

"Bless Jeses"

Thanks to the Sunday school kids and others who made Valentine's Day cards to hand out.

Thanks also to all of you for the time & care that you put into this ministry.

May you have a blessed week!

Week Four @ St. Vincent

To quote, Eric:

"St. Vincent's went really well this week. I think we had around 8-10 kids total (one or two left with the staff, not related to misbehaving though.) They really enjoyed the craft [WWJD bracelets] and Jon/Danielle with their future teacher skills were super awesome/natural helping the kids out with that.

We had a few new faces this time around, probably from the aforementioned group of kids that were being "transitioned" last week."

How AWESOME is our God!!!!!

And the kids' prayer requests:

Week Three Prayers

Please pray for:

"A path to Heaven" for one of the kids.

Also, this past Thursday, "transition issues" prevented most of the kids from coming to youth group. Please pray that this week, God brings us the kids that He knows need to hear about righteousness.

St. Vincent Prayer Requests

We had 10 kids the first week back, and the staff hadn't even been told ahead of time that we were coming which makes this number all that much more exciting! As always, I look forward to serving with you this semester as God does incredible things!!

The kids ask that you please pray:
-that the kids' know God's forgiveness
-for "mom, brothers, sisters, and me"
-one prayer request I absolutely cannot read...but God knows what's on his heart!

May God bless you as you are a blessing to these kids!

New Semester Schedule

Hey Everyone!!

A group will be going to St. Vincent on the first Thursday of classes. So...it's time to get organized. Youth group will be on Thursday nights from 6-7 (we'll leave from Chapel around 5:30 and return by about 7:30).

Please email me and let me know:
1) If you want to go & how often (consistency is good)
2) If you want to help write Bible studies & how often
3) If you know someone else who may want to be involved

This will help me put together a schedule before classes start so that everything is smooth sailing...

Thanks for all you do for this ministry!
